If you would like to take your Stream+ back to default factory settings, then please do the following. Leave your storage device installed in the Stream+ during this factory data reset(external hard drive[EHD] is highly recommended). You will LOSE any recordings that you have stored and also the programs scheduled to be recorded(series recordings).
- Press the Home button on your remote to return to the home screen.
- Navigate down to Settings and select it.
- Navigate down to Storage & Reset and select it.
- Navigate down to Factory Data Reset and select it.
- Navigate down to Factory Data Reset and select it again.
- Navigate down to Erase Everything and select it.
Details of the screens you will encounter during a Factory Data Reset
- You'll now see a white rectangle with a spinning wheel and Restarting.
- The screen will go to a blank black screen.
- You will briefly see Erasing on the screen.
- You'll see Channel Master on your screen.
- You'll see Android's version of multiple spinning colored wheels. This could take a few minutes before it boots up and leaves this screen.
- The next screen will show Android.
- Now the setup begins with Pair your Bluetooth Remote Control select Pair.
- The next screen asks you to press and hold the Home and OK buttons while it searches for your remote.
- You can let go of the buttons when the red light on the remote begins to blink red.
- When the Stream+ detects the remote control pairing signal you'll see Channel Master Remote on the top of the screen.
- When you see that press the OK button on your remote.
- You will see a brief message that the Channel Master Remote is connected.
- The red blinking on the remote will stop at this time.
- Next screen asks if you have an Android device to set up. For this instruction, select No.
- Next screen will list all of the nearby Wi-Fi signals it detects, or it may only show your Wi-Fi router name.
- Select your network name(do not try to connect to your guest network).
- Next you'll need to enter your Wi-Fi network password.
- NOTE: To enter upper case letters, you can navigate to the UP (/\) key on the keyboard, or you can navigate to the desired letter and then press and hold the OK button until that letter changes from lower case to upper case. Then press the OK button again to enter that letter.
- Once your password is entered, navigate right to the greenish Next and select it.
- After the Wi-Fi connects you'll see connected successfully on the screen.
- Now it will check for any software updates. If there are updates available, it will guide you through the software update.
- The next screen asks you to sign in to your Google account. For the sake of instruction brevity, please select skip.
- You can enter your Google password later by pressing the Home button and select Google Play Store.
- In the next screen Select Accept(or you can read the agreement first).
- Next screen gives the Stream+ permission to use your location. This allows proper guide data for your local channels.
- Next screen asks if you like to Help Improve Android TV and you can select yes or no.
- Next screen Allow TV Tuner to access this device's location select Allow.
- Next screen is to setup your Tuner. Depending on the software version, you might be asked to choose between TV or Cable. Choose TV. This Stream+ does not work with Cable channels.
- Select Continue to start the Channel Scan(make certain that your antenna is connected to the Stream+ before starting the scan).
- You'll see a screen that shows the progress of the channel scan.
- When it completes the scan, the next screen will show you how many channels it found and added, then select Done.
- Next screen is IR Remote Control Setup. If you want the Stream+ remote to be able to turn the TV power on/off and control the volume, select Setup TV.
- Next screen will be Is this a [your TV brand] TV? if it the brand is correct, select Yes.
- If it did not show the correct TV brand, you can then choose your TV brand from a list.
- If your TV is not on the list, then use the brand that the Stream+ first thought it had detected.
- Many TV's with differing brand names, are actually the same TV. They just have different brand names on them.
- Next, point your remote control at your TV and select Begin Test.
- Next, you see Test Code 1 of x, and select that to actually begin the code test.
- 1 of 5 indicates that there are 5 possible codes to check.
- Next Did the volume change?
- Did the TV volume indicator appear on the TV screen?
- Choices are Yes, No, or try again.
- Once you see the volume indicator on your screen select Yes(if no, it will move to the next code test 2 of 5).
- If the remote was set up correctly for your TV, then navigate down to Next and select it.
- Next screen is Setup is Complete. Select Finish.
- Next screen is to Set up as OTA DVR Storage where you'll need to select that choice.
- We are assuming that you did indeed leave your storage device connected to the Stream+ before starting the factory data reset.
- Next screen, select Format.
- This may take a minute or so to complete the Formatting.
- When it completes the formatting you'll briefly see a message at the bottom confirming that your storage device is formatted.
- Next screen is Moving Data to your Storage Device Name.
- Next screen is the home screen and you will see a message saying Migrated Data to Storage Device name.
- Then Preparing Recommendations appears on the screen along with a spinning circle.
- Next, navigate and select Live Channels.
- You'll now go through a series of 3 screens that are for information only. Just press OK to move forward to the 4th screen which is Customize your channel lineup and select Get Started. This is going to enable your TV program guide.
- Next screen select TV Tuner, then select Done.
- Now you should be seeing the channel guide. To move out of the guide categories list and into the TV program guide navigate right. You should now be able to see program guide information for the channels in your TV market area.
- Now to confirm that your storage device is installed and press the home button on your remote.
- Navigate down to Settings and select it.
- Navigate down to Storage & Reset and select it.
- Select your storage name.
- On the top you should see Eject. That indicates that your Storage is installed. Do not select that unless you have a reason to remove your storage.
- Navigate down to the bottom and you will see the Available Storage Space.
- It will indicate a little less than the advertised storage on that storage device.
- e.g. if you install a 256GB U3 SD card you'll likely see about 235GB available.
- Install 1TB external hard drive and you'll see ~.9TB.
- You are now ready to use your Stream+. If you encounter any screens where you are unsure of what to do and want to leave it, just press the home button.
