DVR+ Remote Lag (CM-7500GB16 & CM-7500TB1)

There could be occasions when you may experience remote control lag. Much like a PC, many times there is processing that is happening in the background that can cause a delay in remote command response time know as remote lag. We are continually working on optimizations that will further improve the response times but unfortunately patience is the only recommendation we can give on dealing with a couple second delays or less. It's also important to note that when guide data is updating, you will experience a delay in remote control responsiveness.  Please wait for the download to complete and the DVR+(CM-7500) should regain normal operations. The most common cause of severe remote control lag is due to communications with the Hard Drive.

CM-7500GB16

  1. Physically disconnect the external hard drive from the DVR+.
  2. Now disconnect power from the DVR+ for 10 seconds.
  3. Reconnect power, but do not connect the external hard drive.
  4. TEST: Try to recreate the remote lag.
    1. If the lag is no longer present, you can reconnect your external hard drive and test again.
    2. If after reconnecting the external hard drive, it once again has the remote lag, perform a default factory reset.
  5. Default Factory Reset
    1. Disconnect your external hard drive and Wi-Fi adapter prior to the default factory reset(if you are using one).
    2. Please go to Menu>Settings>Factory Reset>Default Factory Reset.
    1. This will erase your personal settings, series schedules and passwords.
    2. This will not erase your recordings.
    3. Follow the on screen prompts and allow it to boot-up to live TV.
  6. Test for the remote control issue and proceed if ok.
  7. Now you can reinstall your external hard drive.
  8. Now you can reinstall your Wi-Fi adapter(if you are using one).
  9. TEST: Begin using as normal.
  10. If the Remote Control lag returns, then you must suspect the hard drive to be bad or going bad.

    2. Please go to Menu>Settings>Factory Reset>Default Factory Reset.

    2. This will not erase your recordings.
    3. Follow the on screen prompts and allow it to boot-up to live TV.

Testing Your CM-7500TB1 Internal Hard Drive via a DST Test

  1. Please go to Menu>Settings>Technical Info>STB Health.
  2. There is no indication on the screen that you can enter numbers, but proceed anyway by pressing number buttons 3 1 7 9 and then select DST Short Test.
    1. It will begin to test shortly, displaying blue and red light on the front panel and you will see the DVR+ screen during the test.
    2. Once the test is complete, the DVR+ front panel light will blink blue or it will blink red(Pass or Fail).
    3. The test results are also documented in the DVR+ internal log.
  3. If it blinks red, that indicates the internal hard drive has a problem and will not operate normally(you will need to unplug from power to end the DST test).
    1. At this time we only recommend the Toshiba HDTB310XK3AA.
  4. If it blinks blue, that indicates it did not encounter any issues during the short test.
    1. After the DST test has completed blinking blue, go ahead and unplug the DVR+ from power, then plug it back in to continue using your DVR+.
